Drafting Trainee

JOB SUMMARY
Will be trained to review and backcheck all shop drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel commonly found in commercial, industrial or retail construction projects. Will also coordinate with outside drafters throughout the process to ensure the drawings received are both accurate and per Fabricraft standards. 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES
  • Create and/or backcheck shop drawings and field erection plans for commercial, retail and industrial steel fabrication projects.
  • Coordinate project schedules with customer reviews, approvals and shop fabrication releases.
  • Communicate with shop personnel and outside drafters to resolve issues with shop drawings.
  • Assist Project Management with material takeoffs, purchasing, document control, quality control, etc.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Required a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of drafting/modeling programs and production of shop drawings.
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Previous drafting experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and customers.
  • Must be a highly-organized person who can manage multiple projects at once and prioritize based on schedules. Effective time management skills are a must.
  • Must be self-motivated and driven to learn on their own.
